Article Processing Charges (APC)
Current APC Waiver Period
To support researchers globally and promote accessible scholarly communication, all manuscripts submitted on or before December 31, 2026, will be processed and published without Article Processing Charges (APCs).
During this waiver period
No APCs: Authors will not be charged any submission, publication, or page fees.
No Hidden Charges: There are no additional charges for colour figures, supplementary materials, or article length.
Publishing Costs Covered: Precision Digital Publishers (PDP) covers the applicable costs associated with editorial processing, peer review, copyediting, typesetting, JATS XML production, DOI registration, and digital preservation.
Optional Editorial Services: The journal may offer optional editorial or manuscript-support services for authors. Use of any such service is entirely voluntary and does not guarantee acceptance, publication, or a favorable editorial decision. All manuscripts remain subject to the journal’s standard editorial and peer-review processes.
All articles published are available through Gold Open Access, consistent with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). Articles are freely accessible to readers immediately upon publication without subscription or paywall restrictions.
Protection for Manuscripts Submitted During the Waiver Period
Manuscripts submitted on or before December 31, 2026 will remain fully exempt from APCs throughout their editorial, peer-review, revision, and production processes, regardless of the date on which the manuscript is accepted or published.
Authors will not be required to pay an APC for such manuscripts if an APC policy is introduced after the waiver period.
Future APC Policy
Submissions received after December 31, 2026 may be subject to a revised APC policy.
- Any future APC rates or fee structures will be clearly communicated and published on the journal website before implementation.
- Any applicable charges will be disclosed transparently to authors.
- If APCs are introduced, appropriate waiver or discount provisions may be made available in accordance with the journal’s applicable eligibility criteria and recognised initiatives.
- Authors experiencing financial difficulties may also be able to request consideration for a waiver or reduction, subject to the journal’s applicable policy.
Editorial Independence
Payment of an APC, eligibility for a waiver, or an author’s ability to pay does not influence editorial evaluation, peer review, acceptance, or rejection decisions. Editorial decisions are made independently on the basis of the journal’s academic and ethical standards.
