When preparing to submit your manuscript, please use the designated online submission platform (OJS LINK) of the journal. Once received, your manuscript will be assigned a unique Manuscript Number. An automated notification will be sent to all listed authors, confirming the successful receipt of the submission by the journal’s Editorial Office. Following submission, the manuscript will undergo the editorial process as outlined below:
  1. Initial Review

The initial review is conducted in three distinct stages:

Technical Evaluation

Upon manuscript submission, a preliminary assessment is performed to verify adherence to established guidelines, including those pertaining to conflicts of interest, reporting standards, acknowledgments, complete author details, and copyright permissions. If any section of the manuscript be insufficiently detailed or non-compliant, the author will be required to provide necessary revisions.

Plagiarism Assessment

Following the preliminary technical evaluation, the manuscript is subjected to plagiarism analysis utilizing the Turnitin plagiarism detection software. This step is conducted in conjunction with a thorough verification of the author’s credentials.

Verification of Author Identity

To confirm the authenticity of the authors, we carefully review their qualifications, publication history, and digital identifiers. Further, institutional email addresses are verified. During the manuscript submission process, acknowledgments are sent to the email addresses of all listed co-authors. Any undeliverable emails trigger concerns regarding the validity of the provided information, prompting further investigation.

  1. Peer Review

Once the Editor-in-Chief has made an initial determination, manuscripts proceed to the peer review phase. In consultation with the Editor-in-Chief, manuscripts are assigned to appropriate members of the Editorial Board and other qualified scientists with expertise in the manuscript’s subject area. At PDP, we uphold principles of transparency and rigor by taking strict measures to prevent conflicts of interest between reviewers and authors. In the exceptional event of a conflict, the reviewer is promptly replaced. Manuscripts are evaluated based on two to three review reports, after which the Editor-in-Chief renders a decision informed by the reviewers’ feedback. Please note that reviewers’ recommendations are accessible only to the journal editors and not to the authors. All decisions regarding revisions, acceptance, or rejection must be thoroughly justified. Reviewer reports serve as a valuable resource for the editors, who consider all feedback to make a final decision. Typically, all comments meant for the authors are shared. However, in some cases, comments may be edited to ensure anonymity and uphold a collegial tone throughout the review process. For a comprehensive overview of our peer review process and protocols, we encourage you to visit our dedicated Peer Review Workflow page.
  1. Editor-in-Chief Decision and Manuscript Revision Process

The Editor-in-Chief evaluates reviewers’ reports to determine whether a manuscript is accepted, rejected, or requires revision. This decision is communicated to the author. In cases requiring revision, authors must submit the revised manuscript and a detailed response letter within 7 days, unless an extension is requested and granted. Authors are strongly encouraged to address all comments and suggestions provided by the reviewers and editors comprehensively, enabling improvements to their work. Responses to reviewer feedback should explicitly highlight modifications made or provide reasoned justifications for any disagreements. Revised submissions must include a new cover letter containing a point-by-point response to reviewers’ and editors’ comments. For minor revisions, authors should submit a final version reflecting the required changes for review by the editor. In contrast, major revisions are sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation, and their feedback significantly influences the Editor-in-Chief’s final decision. Generally, a maximum of two rounds of major revisions is permitted. After completing the revisions, the manuscript is resubmitted to the Editor-in-Chief, who may choose to:
  • Accept the manuscript,
  • Request further revisions, or
  • Re-engage the same reviewers for another review.
Although the Editor-in-Chief may occasionally diverge from reviewers’ recommendations, they are expected to provide a well-reasoned explanation to ensure transparency and benefit both authors and reviewers. The ultimate authority for decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief, with no involvement from the editorial staff in such matters. If the original reviewers are unresponsive to a revised submission, an alternative Editorial Board member or a reviewer in a related field may be assigned to complete the re-review process. During re-review, both the revised manuscript and the authors’ response to reviewers’ comments are shared with the new reviewers. A manuscript is typically limited to two revision cycles; failure to address significant reviewer concerns within this timeframe will result in rejection. If the revision process exceeds 45 days, authors are advised to consider withdrawing their manuscript and resubmitting it as a new submission.
Content Assessment

Before a manuscript is submitted for revision, we conduct a detailed review to ensure it aligns with international standards and journal guidelines. This process includes evaluating the quality of graphics. If any figures are identified as low quality, we notify the authors to improve them, as high-quality figures are essential for publication.

While we do not delay initial processing, including peer review, manuscripts cannot advance to production until all requirements are met. This proactive approach enables authors to resolve any issues comprehensively during the revision stage, alongside addressing reviewers’ feedback, resulting in a refined submission that improves the likelihood of acceptance.

Author Appeal Process

Authors who wish to appeal a rejection must submit a formal request via email to the journal’s Editorial Office. The appeal should include a detailed justification, accompanied by point-by-point responses to reviewers’ and/or the Editor’s comments, using the designated appeal form. Appeals are only permissible following a “reject and decline resubmission” decision and must be filed within three months of the decision date. Appeals submitted outside these parameters will not be considered. Upon receipt, the Managing Editor forwards the manuscript and relevant documentation (including referee identities) to a designated Editorial Board Member for an advisory recommendation. The consulted academic editor may recommend acceptance, additional peer review, or uphold the original rejection. This decision is then reviewed and confirmed by the Editor-in-Chief. A rejection at this stage is final and irrevocable.

  1. Production Process

After acceptance, each manuscript is assigned a unique identifier (DOI) and progresses to the production stage. This process includes language editing, typesetting, proofreading, preparation of figures and tables, citations and references verification etc.

Reference Verification and Formatting

Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the Editorial Office undertakes a detailed review of the references to ensure compliance with academic and formatting standards. This process encompasses:

  • Duplicate References: Identifying and eliminating instances where references are cited more than once within the reference section to avoid redundancy.
  • Authors’ Self-Citation Rate: Reassessing the proportion of self-citations by the authors to uphold academic integrity.
  • Reference Formatting: Examining the accuracy of reference formatting. If significant formatting discrepancies are identified, authors are required to submit corrected versions.
  • Relevance of Cited References: PDP makes sure that all cited references align with international standards and are relevant to the article’s content. This includes scrutinizing self-citations at both the journal and publisher levels.

Minor corrections are managed by the Editorial Office, subject to the authors’ approval before proceeding. For substantial errors, authors are requested to provide revised references directly.

English Editing

PDP mandates that all submitted manuscripts adhere to rigorous English language standards. Authors are strongly encouraged to seek review by a native English-speaking expert or utilize professional editing services to address grammatical, scientific, and typographical inaccuracies before submission. For convenience, PDP offers its own professional language editing services at competitive rates. Authors are invited to contact us for a personalized quote and further information.

Layout Editing

Once the language editing process is complete, manuscripts advance to the Layout Editing stage, where formatting is carefully aligned with the journal’s prescribed guidelines. This process encompasses adjusting fonts, margins, headers, footers, and formatting figures and tables to ensure uniformity. The manuscript is then converted into a PDF, which is shared with the authors for review. This step enables authors to identify any discrepancies or errors introduced during the conversion from Word to PDF.

Proofreading

In the final stage, the manuscript is carefully checked to identify and correct any remaining errors. Revisions suggested by authors after layout editing are also addressed, and an updated version of the manuscript is sent to the authors for final approval. Our experienced proofreaders ensure the manuscript is free of errors, focusing on minor corrections without making significant changes to content or style. This step serves as the last quality check before publication, ensuring any overlooked details are resolved.

  1. Online Publication

All articles are published online in both PDF and XML formats. Corresponding authors’ contact details and articles are highlighted through a press release service, ensuring broad exposure and attracting attention from global media outlets.
